SUPERLEAGUE
A 4 team competition, preseason of the official field league, consisting of players from a draft pool, as nominated from ALL clubs.

MISSION
To create an exciting, short season lacrosse competition enabling the testing of rules, game play and coaches, resulting in an enjoyable competition pre-season to the normal field season, being fun for all participants including spectators. Providing an opportunity for sponsors to be directly involved, with team naming and additional opportunities for marketing and value for money from lacrosse sponsorship.

GAMES
Games will be played with modified rulings to speed up play and encourage flair to be used by players, modelled on the MLL success in the USA.

Rules and Play of Game (altered from standard League rulings)

• 15 minute quarters
• 3 long sticks per team on the field at any one time
• 45 second shot clock, from possession of the ball by a team. To be reset upon a shot contacting the goal keeper or goal.
• A missed shot, resulting in no contact with the goal or keeper, that goes out of bounds will be awarded to the opposition. (automatic clear opportunity)
• 2 Point shot line, 15 metres from each goal (marked in a contrasting colour to the other lines)
• Face-off clamping NOT ALLOWED, ensuring quicker possession and minimising injury opportunities for the face off players.
• All quarters and overtimes start with a faceoff, regardless of serving penalties.
• Tied game and Overtime.
  • In the event of a game finishing regulation time with equal scores (a tie). A sudden Death overtime period will be played. This will consist of each team fielding one player for each position, ie: 1 x goal keeper, 1 x defender, 1 x midfielder and 1 x attacker.
  • The Overtime period will commence 3 minutes after regulation time finishes and will play until a goal is scored.
  • The Overtime period will start with a face off
  • One attacker and 2 defensive players must remain on-side during this period
• Other rules as per standard field lacrosse (ie off-side, etc)

REFEREES
2 field referees and 1 box official for each game. The Box referee (or CBO) can run the field at the substitution box area, ensuring off-side, substitution, etc are monitored. If support and equipment is available, the box referee would preferably have a microphone to announce penalties or calls and explain them for the spectators.
